The ¡Viva Villa Festival! was born in 2016 under the joint impetus of three French artistic residencies of international stature: the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici in Rome, the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto and the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid.
Designed as of its zero edition, as a free annual meeting, the festival brings together the resident artists of these three great institutions, with a resolutely transversal perspective. Within the same program, disciplines intersect, meet and enter into dialogue. ¡Viva Villa! thus offers the public a living glimpse of young contemporary creation, through the plurality of perspectives and perspectives that characterize it.
The EOC joins ¡Viva Villa! for the 2018 edition, performing two world premieres by Joan Magragné Figuera and Didier Rotella, two composers in residence at Casa de Velazquez in Madrid.
